About the ceremony

Cyprus International University (CIU) holds its 2026-2027 Academic Year Fall Semester Graduation Ceremony on 28–29 January 2027 (Thursday and Friday), according to the university's academic calendar. The venue, session times and the allocation of faculties to sessions have not been announced yet; last year the session programme appeared on the university's news site three days before the ceremony. Please confirm the details with the university or with your graduate.

The fall ceremonies of 2024, 2025 and 2026 were held in the Çevik Uraz Conference Hall on the CIU campus. Nearly 1,000 graduates received their diplomas at the January 2026 ceremony. At the fall ceremonies held in 2024 and 2025, graduates came from 56 and 57 countries respectively, and their families attended.

On the day: notes for families

These notes are based on previous fall ceremonies; the 2027 programme may differ.

  • In 2025 and 2026 the ceremony ran over two days in four sessions in total, starting at 10:00 and 14:00 each day.
  • The allocation of faculties to sessions changed between 2025 and 2026; check the university's announcement for your graduate's day and time.
  • The 2026 programme included a cap toss and group photos on the lawn after each session.
  • At the fall ceremonies held in 2024 and 2025, speeches on behalf of the graduates were given in Turkish and English, and the ceremonies were streamed live on the university's YouTube channel. No live stream has been announced for 2027.

Ceremony registration and contact

Taking part depends on the graduate's own registration: for the spring 2026 ceremony, students registered at gown distribution by a set deadline, and full academic dress (cap, gown and stole) was required. Fall 2027 registration dates, and any invitations or guest limits for families, have not been announced yet. For questions, the university's contact details are info@ciu.edu.tr and +90 392 671 11 11.

North Houses is not the organiser of the ceremony. Please direct questions about the programme, registration or attendance to the university.

Getting to Nicosia and where to stay

Visitors flying to North Cyprus arrive at Ercan Airport. According to CIU's notes for international students, flights connect via Türkiye and, depending on nationality, a Turkish transit visa may be needed; please check with the relevant consulate. North Houses offers fully equipped studio and two-bedroom daily rental apartments in four buildings in Nicosia. From our buildings, the CIU campus is 6–13 km by road, roughly 9–16 minutes by car without traffic (estimated from OpenStreetMap data). The accommodation section below is set to 27–30 January 2027: see which apartments are available and send a booking request, then adjust the dates once your graduate's session is known.
